AthletesEDGE

the science of performance

The evolution of TODAY’S youth athlete is leaving them ideal candidates for overuse injuries, which are debilitating, painful and can potentially be lifelong.  Today’s overachieving kids are starting sports earlier and training longer and harder than ever before.  It is critical to understand the importance and individual variability of rest, conditioning and training on young athletes, and be aware of the risks that accompany an overly-stacked regimen.

What athlete has any other goal than a long healthy career?  A significant amount of athletes are performing high-level  activities although they have unknown physical imbalances and inefficient movements.  These individuals create poor movement patterns, train around pre-existing problems or simply do not address their weaknesses during their strength and conditioning programs.        Unknown physical limitations will drastically distort body mechanics and performance, and set the athlete up for chronic, non-contact injuries and pre-mature breakdown.

As athletes, we have continual needs that are much greater and more demanding.  The result is the development of AthletesEDGE, one of the most comprehensive and sophisticated athlete development programs available.  Designed with several programs that will help athletes have a more successful career by treating and preventing injuries and developing the athlete correctly.

AthletesEDGE, under the direction of Dr. Joshua Bletzinger and Ryan Thilgen CSCS, is a program created and dedicated to maintain the proper health and development of the youth athlete.  The mission of AthletesEDGE is to properly develop atheletes through a preventative, proactive system to ensure saftey and drive down individual healthcare costs.

The AthletesEDGE system is predicated on a pre-participation physical assessment of physical ability.  Prior to training, conditioning, and competition identifying potential  physical limitations or imbalances is now critical to developing an athlete properly.  This assessment provides information necessary to implement the proper treatment/training program that improves an athlete’s functional deficits, prevents injury and optimizes athletic performance.
